🔄 Folder Synchronization & Backup
On My Disk includes a built-in synchronization engine that allows you to automatically back up or sync files between different folders, mounted cloud storages, or even different devices linked to your account.
How it works
The Sync Engine runs continuously in the background. It monitors connected devices and cloud storages. When both the source and destination paths of a sync rule are available (online), the engine actively listens for file changes in the source folder and automatically replicates them to the destination.
Step-by-step Setup
1. Open Settings
Open the Connector Web UI (http://<your-device-ip-or-name>) and navigate to Settings.
2. Go to Backup / Sync
Switch to the Backup / Sync tab in the settings menu.
3. Create a Sync Rule
Scroll down to the Sync rules section and add a new rule by filling in the fields:
- Source Path: The directory you want to synchronize or backup (e.g.,
/home/user/Documents). - Destination Path: The target directory where files should be copied. This can be another local folder, an external drive, a connected WebDAV/rclone cloud storage, or a path on another device linked to your On My Disk account.
4. Enable and Save
- Check the box next to the rule to enable it.
- You can add multiple rules by filling the next empty row.
- Click Save (or apply the settings) to activate the synchronization.
The Sync Engine will automatically detect when files are added, modified, or deleted in the source path and mirror these changes to the destination in real-time.
